Fornasetti

We stumbled upon this fabulous artist Fornasetti and absolutely LOVE his work. We are considering a few pieces for various areas in our home and thought we’d share with you all.

Piero Fornasetti was an Italian painter, sculptor, interior decorator and engraver. He lived most of life in Milan, attending the Brera Art Academy from 1930-32 when he was expelled for insubordination. His unique creations transcend time and they look as good today as they did in the 30’s.

His plates and other décor pieces most often featuring images of operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri, grace spaces designed by Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Brian Gluckstein to name a few. The simplicity of Lina’s face in Fornasetti’s unique but instantly recognizable black and white format instantly elevates the room it is placed in.

Here are just some of these fabulous Fornasetti creations, which is your favorite?

This last one we're thinking about having blown up and hung over the bed in the Master. That same wall recently received a fresh ikat chevron allover stencil treatment that we will share with you real soon.
